Little Miss Independent

Sort of.

We spent much of the long holiday weekend reminded that although Elsa sure loves to do things for herself and loves to explore, when it comes to busy unfamiliar places, she really just wants her parents (we aren't too upset about that part - well except when we went all the way to Brookfield Zoo and she refused to ride in the stroller and only wanted to be held, and only by her mom, and didn't really care so much about seeing any animals), but oh well, live and learn.

Elsa enjoyed the playground areas the most! Like her Momma, not a big fan of animals...

Checking out the Sea Lions

And the grand finale - the carousel...Elsa loved watching from the outside and danced like crazy to the music.  Then they got on.  First, she was just unsure.  Then she seemed amused.  And then, she needed off.

Following our brief trip to Brookfield, we celebrated on the the 3rd at the Derbers' home in Peru with a cookout and then at a family friend's of the Goldens who hosts a camp out each year on the 4th (which was also abbreviated - Elsa wasn't so sure about the whole "camping" thing).

We finished off the weekend at home, in the sunshine, with the water table and kiddie pool. By Sunday, we all needed a lazy day!

She had her moments this weekend, but we wouldn't change this firecracker for anything!
